"Billericay RFC has supported Prostate Cancer UK on several occasions over recent years and we do so again following the passing of David Goldsmith (Vice President and former committee member / volunteer) and knowledge that several past and present members have the disease.

The hard facts:

• Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in men, more than 52,000 men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer every year on average – that's 144 men every day.
• 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in their lifetime.
• And the risk is even higher if you're black, with 1 in 4 men being diagnosed.
• Around 490,000 men are living with and after Prostate Cancer.
• It manly affects those over 50 and your risk increases with age.
• One man dies every 45 minutes of Prostate Cancer.

First and foremost, we want to raise awareness so that our members and volunteers can look after themselves and their loved ones.

PLEASE ask your GP for a simple PSA test to catch the disease in its early and very treatable stages - men die when it is found too late.

We are also raising funds for the great work that Prostate Cancer UK are doing to raise awareness, lobby the UK Government to provide proactive PSA testing, and support ground breaking research to develop better testing and treatments.

Billericay RFC’s members past and present, sponsors, valued volunteers and guests gathered for a Vice Presidents Lunch in October 2024 where we raised £2,209 for Prostate Cancer UK.
