On Monday 22nd August 2022, Billericay RFC was represented at the Essex RFU AGM by Allan Steynor (Club Secretary) and Ian Hollingworth (Coach Coordinator).
The big news on the night was of course Ian's election as the first ever Age Grade lead for the County. This new position shows that Essex RFU is continually committed to growing Age Grade rugby and even more exciting is the fact that Billericay will be in the middle of it.
Some other key points to note were as follows:
- Nick Bracken (East London RFC) takes on the role of Essex RFU President after a year as the President Elect. Alan Price is now the Immediate Past President.
- A new role of Player Safety Manager has been created to focus on player welfare, including Mental Health.
- Essex RFU is close to announcing key sponsorship deals for the upcoming season to ensure that activities are fully funded and finances remain healthy.
- Ground conditions were discussed at length and all clubs present agreed that Essex RFU would vote for the delay of the competitive season by at least two weeks. Coaches and Team managers will of course provide any updates on fixtures as soon as they have been confirmed but for now training and all rugby activities will continue as normal.
Once again congratulations to Ian on his appointment and we look forward to seeing the great work you will inevitably do!
